Our ticket revenues account for 35% of the operating budget. Like other prestigious American orchestras, the New Haven Symphony relies on generous tax-deductible gifts from corporations, foundations and individuals, as well as special fund-raising events to make up the gap between ticket sales and the orchestra’s costs. Your contribution helps to support:
The Annual Fund is the mainstay of individual giving. Each autumn we ask for contributions from our supporters—people who recognize the importance of the NHSO to the cultural life or our community, including those who attend pops and classical concerts. Donors’ names are listed in the program books.
A planned gift to the NHSO allows donors the opportunity to share their dedication to music in New Haven and to leave a lasting legacy that will benefit future generations. Planned gifts, properly structured, can also provide significant tax advantages and a lifetime income stream to donors.
As the nation’s fourth oldest symphony orchestra, the NHSO is truly a remarkable success story. We’re known regionally and nationally for our artistic accomplishments, and our donors and patrons have proved to be remarkably generous and loyal. However, the Orchestra has a small endowment, and the need for additional support is ongoing. Continuing to build the NHSO’s endowment ensures our continued quality and stability. Contributions to the endowment may be unrestricted or designated for specific funds. All gifts to the NHSO are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by federal law.
