Two years later he was invited by Zubin Mehta to perform the Paganini Concerto No. 1 with the New York Philharmonic. The live recording is the second part of the NHSO first CD recording in nearly 30 years. The Walton Recording is a 3-CD recording project featuring Walton’s symphonic works and concertos utilizing original manuscripts accessed through Yale University Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The first CD, scheduled for international release in Spring 2010 under international record label Nimbus Records, includes Walton’s Symphony No. 1 (recorded May 2009) and his Violin Concerto, to be recorded live at the NHSO’s opening night concert.
