Donald Anthony DeLuca
Guilford, CT
Donald DeLuca has been a career long industrial designer, model maker and multi
media sculptor. Don started at Hasbro as a designer of mechanisms - the gear and
motor innards that animate and delight. Don was soon promoted to head of Boys
Toys R & D, responsible for all boys brands, including GI Joe, Tonka Trucks,
Transformers, and many others. Don is immortalized in plastic as the GI figure
"Road Pig," a fearsome
Dreadnaught.
Don came to Connecticut to become the global manager of industrial design for
Bic Corporation, including the high end Shaeffer Pen Company.
Don is now partner in The Toy Boys, a production invention and development
company,
and teaches at Rhode Island School of Design. A resident of Guilford, he
received his BA from Brown University and Master of Fine Arts in Industrial
Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is a noted for his fine marine
models and quirky mechanical sculptures. Don has built his own rowing boats
which he uses for his extended rowing trips along the coast.
